The In Touch Ministries Sermon Archive: Complete Guide

In Touch is the reason a preacher from one Atlanta pulpit became a voice people heard in Nairobi, Manila and Bogota. Charles Stanley pastored First Baptist Church Atlanta from 1971, and the ministry he built around that preaching turned it into a daily radio and television broadcast, a magazine, a translated library and, eventually, a solar-powered audio Bible player distributed where there is no internet. This guide covers what the In Touch sermon archive contains, where to find it free, and why it kept broadcasting after he died.

What Is the In Touch Ministries Sermon Archive?

Charles Stanley (1932–2023) became pastor of First Baptist Church Atlanta in 1971 and served there for roughly five decades, stepping into the role of pastor emeritus in 2020. He was twice president of the Southern Baptist Convention. His preaching was plain, personal and slow-moving in the best sense: a single principle, worked patiently, with the listener addressed directly rather than lectured.

In Touch Ministries was founded in the late 1970s to broadcast that preaching, and it grew into one of the most widely distributed teaching ministries in the world, carried on radio and television in many languages. Its most distinctive project is the In Touch Messenger, a solar-powered audio device preloaded with scripture and messages for places without reliable power or connectivity. Stanley died in April 2023; In Touch has continued to air his messages from the archive since, which is exactly the pattern Love Worth Finding established with Adrian Rogers.

What's Inside the Archive

Because In Touch was a broadcast ministry from the start, the collection was captured in broadcast quality and organised for reuse, and much of it exists in translation as well as in English.

  • Five decades of sermons preached at First Baptist Church Atlanta, spanning 1971 to 2020
  • Daily radio and weekly television programmes edited from the pulpit recordings
  • Translated broadcasts and resources in a large number of languages
  • In Touch magazine, devotionals and study material developed from the preaching
  • The In Touch Messenger audio device programme, distributing messages where streaming is not possible
  • A searchable online sermon library organised by topic and by scripture

How to Access the In Touch Ministries Archive

In Touch publishes the archive free for personal study. The material is primarily audio and video; check the ministry's site for which messages also carry written notes.

Want a Transcript of a Sermon from This Archive?

The In Touch archive is primarily audio and video. The ministry publishes written devotional material and some sermon notes, but do not assume a full transcript exists for a given message; check intouch.org first.

How In Touch Ministries's Approach Can Inspire Your Church's Archive

In Touch is the clearest large-scale demonstration that distribution decisions, made early, determine how far preaching travels.

1.Translate, do not just publish

In Touch invested in getting the same messages into many languages. Most churches will never do this, but the smaller version applies: a transcript is the first step toward any translation, subtitle or caption.

2.Plan for listeners without bandwidth

The Messenger device exists because streaming assumes power and connectivity. Downloadable files and text pages serve the same purpose on a slow connection.

3.A clear, repeatable structure survives the edit

Stanley's principle-based messages cut cleanly into broadcast segments. Preaching with a visible skeleton is what makes a sermon reusable in another format.

4.The archive is the succession plan

In Touch kept broadcasting after 2023 because the library was complete and catalogued. That is a decision made decades earlier, not in the week after a funeral.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many sermons did Charles Stanley preach?

There is no reliable public total, and any exact figure should be treated with caution. He preached weekly at First Baptist Church Atlanta from 1971 until 2020, plus conventions and broadcasts, so the catalogued archive runs to thousands of messages. The searchable library on intouch.org is the authoritative index.

Are In Touch sermons free?

Yes. The sermon library on intouch.org is free to stream for personal study, and the radio and television broadcasts are free to hear and watch. The ministry sells some study resources and asks for donations. The messages remain under In Touch's copyright.

Where can I watch In Touch sermons?

On intouch.org, on the ministry's video channels and app, and on the television networks and stations that carry the weekly programme. Broadcast listings are published on the official site.

Is In Touch still broadcasting after Charles Stanley's death?

Yes. Stanley died in April 2023, and In Touch has continued to air his messages from the recorded archive, the same pattern Love Worth Finding has followed with Adrian Rogers since 2005. Current schedules are on intouch.org.

What is the In Touch Messenger?

A solar-powered handheld audio device the ministry distributes in places without reliable electricity or internet access. It comes preloaded with scripture and messages so the teaching reaches listeners who could never stream it, and it is one of the more unusual answers any ministry has given to the distribution problem.

Is In Touch the same as First Baptist Church Atlanta?

No. First Baptist Atlanta is the congregation Stanley pastored and where the archive was preached. In Touch Ministries is the separate broadcast organisation that records, edits, translates and distributes the messages worldwide.
