Biography

Voddie Baucham was raised by a single mother in Los Angeles, came to faith as a college football player, and trained at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. He pastored Grace Family Baptist Church in the Houston area before relocating his family to Zambia to help build African Christian University, where he serves as Dean of Theology. His preaching is doctrinally dense and delivered with a courtroom directness — he moves through an argument, anticipates the objection, and answers it, which is why his conference messages circulate far beyond the events they were given at. Family Driven Faith made him a leading voice for family discipleship and household worship, and Fault Lines, his critique of critical race theory's influence in evangelicalism, made him one of the most-discussed and most-contested figures in American church debate. Supporters value his willingness to argue a position all the way down; critics contend that Fault Lines flattens the positions it opposes.

Legacy

Baucham is among the most-shared conference preachers of the last two decades, and a rare figure whose audience spans expository preaching circles, homeschooling and family-discipleship networks, and apologetics.
