Biography
Alistair Begg was born in Glasgow, trained at the London School of Theology, and pastored in Scotland before moving in 1983 to Parkside Church in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, where he has remained ever since — an unusually long single-church tenure in American evangelicalism. His preaching is consecutive exposition: he works through books of the Bible passage by passage, without series branding or topical framing, in a style that owes much to Dick Lucas and the British expository tradition. Truth For Life, launched in 1995, carries that teaching on radio across North America and gives the entire sermon archive away free, a deliberate policy rather than a promotion. Begg is theologically Reformed but has consistently declined the harder edges of movement identity, and he is a frequent recommendation for preachers who want to hear a text handled carefully without rhetorical machinery.
Legacy
Begg is one of the clearest living models of week-in, week-out consecutive exposition, and Truth For Life's free-archive policy has made a complete multi-decade preaching corpus available to pastors who could never have afforded one.
