Otter Pro is $16.99/month and includes 1,200 transcription minutes per user — that works out to about $0.014 per minute, but only if you actually use all 1,200 minutes. Most churches don't. A church that publishes 4 sermons a month (about 180 minutes) is effectively paying $0.094 per minute on Otter — roughly $17/month for four transcripts. We're a flat $19/month for unlimited sermons, for the whole church rather than per user. Otter's per-user pricing is what bites: three staff on Otter Pro is $51/month.

Does Otter handle Bible verses and theological vocabulary?

Otter uses a general-purpose speech engine optimized for business meetings. It does fine on common words but trips on rare theological vocabulary (eschatology, propitiation, Habakkuk) and doesn't standardize scripture references. Our pipeline runs a scripture-detection pass that catches and formats Bible references properly, so your transcripts come out blog-ready instead of needing a 30-minute search-and-replace pass.

If you want a live caption display during a service, Otter's live mode works — same with several other tools. We don't compete in live captioning; we do high-accuracy post-service transcription. Many churches use both: a live captioner during the service for accessibility, then upload the recording to us afterward for the polished transcript that goes on the blog and YouTube description.

Yes. The Church Plan is month-to-month at $19 — cancel whenever you want and you keep access through the period you paid for. No annual contract, no cancellation fee. If your church takes a summer break from posting sermons, pause the plan and come back when you're ready.
